There must have been some significance to the day in primary school when we were taught about using margins, something that triggered a few neurons to fire together and to embed that lesson in my brain. I can still see my friends around the table, and the wide margin and wide lines of the small exercise book I was learning to write in. This embedded lesson means that my ears prick up and pay attention whenever I hear the word.

But safe from what? There is danger on Earth, in London, just as there is danger on other planets. There is danger in Jackie Tyler’s lifetime, just as there was and will be danger in other times. We cannot hope to protect ourselves completely from danger, and when we try to protect our children from the same, we run the risk of creating a new kind of danger.

Formulae became popular because they worked. But now they are gaunt and shallow from overuse. AI is popular because it gives us new insights. But when a human has nothing of value to offer other than what it has generated with AI, then there is no wonder why they are being replaced.
What might the world look like if we rebalanced this audacity gap? It would start when a woman resists the urge to re-score herself downwards, and when a man pauses long enough to wonder if he should.

If you cannot articulate your values, if your members or staff cannot articulate the values of your organization, or association, then your efforts may be unfocussed and it will be more difficult for you to define your preferred future and make plans to get there.
